This video was funny and clever, but seemed much simpler to compose than some of your other animations…I thought it might be a good one to start questions with!

Funnily enough, there was nothing planned when putting together this car wreck of a ‘film’. The ingredients required/recommended were:

Beer
A friend
Angela Black
Beer
Adobe Flash
A Wacom Tablet

But getting to the real guts— it’s all Frame Animation. I won’t get into animation techniques here (it’s something better taught through extensive researach and experimentation), but we just sat down and scrubbed through a timeline, adding frames by drawing into each frame/cell. Each frame was drawn, nothing fancy was done with computer tweening.

We swapped out after we had enough of working on a section.

Much like you’d fiddle with a flick book in high school when you were supposed to be paying freaking attention to your teacher, the tools in Flash work the same way. You can lay down frames and flick through them to see if the action is looking right.

It would be pretty redundant to put together a general animation tutorial. Seeing as so many other Flash animators have written some pretty comprehensive items I’ll leave you with a link to Chris Georgenes’s site “Keyframer”, where you’ll find plenty of helpful kick start lessons.

Washington is a beautiful slice of earth. The Pacific Northwest is so lush and full of amazing sights. We road-tripped two hours North of Vancouver, WA to some marvelous little town near the base of Rainier Mountain. Bethany had a Pedigree show for her animals.
