Using a Cintiq to draw on is a joy, but it does have a few fiddly differences from regular pencil to paper. The main one to notice is how your hand glides across the surface when leaning on the tablet.
Paper has a very specific texture that has just enough grip to keep your hand still when it needs anchoring, and enough smoothness to glide for long sweeping curves.
The Cintiq on the other hand likes to behave like an odd piece of glass. When your hands are hot, it’ll stick to the surface, and when too cold, they’ll slip all over the place.
To regulate it, I use a cotton glove with the fingers trimmed from the gripping fingers. A lot of the old Disney cleanup artists use to do this to prevent smudging their pencil work. You can actually buy Cintiq gloves online for around 30-40 bucks, but a 99c pair of cotton gloves and a pair of scissors works just as well. Buy a pair and that’s less than 50c a glove!
